High school football playoffs

- The 12th week of the high school football season West Virginia begins a 4 week playoff run on the road to Wheeling to crown champions in 3 classes.

The the Mid Ohio Valley has several candidates in the running.

In Class AAA ranks, The Parkersburg South Patriots are the number 4 seed in the 16 team field.

That gives them the right to host games in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs.

First up on Friday, the Patriots will host 13th seeded South Charleston. Game time will be at 7:30 at the Erickson All Sports Facility.

The Patriots finished up the regular season with a 9-1 record after overwhelming arch rival Parkersburg on Friday night.

As for the Big Reds, they are the number 12 seed and will be hitting the road to the eastern panhandle to play Musselman.

Things really get interesting for round 2. If both the Patriots and the Big Reds win on Friday, then their would be a playoff edition of the Crosstown Showdown with Parkersburg South hosting Parkersburg High in the Class AAA quarterfinals on November 22.

In Class A, the 5th ranked Williamstown Yellowjackets are are hosting Tug Valley Friday night at 7:30. The Yellowjackets are 8-2 on the season.

At the same time in St. Marys, the 6th ranked Blue Devils are hosting Cameron from the northern panhandle.

The Blue Devils just finished off a remarkable 8-2 run during the regular season.

The Ritchie County Rebels go in as the number 2 seed and they're hosting South Harrison on Friday night. The Rebels are coming off of a 9-1 regular season

The Doddridge County Bulldogs are the number 1 seed after finishing back to back undefeated regular seasons. They will host Weirton Madonna Saturday afternoon at 1:30.

In Ohio, both Fort Frye and Waterford have advanced to the regional semifinals in the Buckeye State's playoffs.

The Cadets are set to play Mogadore in the Division VI Region 21 playoffs. The game will be played Friday evening at 7 o'clock at Meadowbrook high school in Byesville.

The Cadets are the number 3 seed and are coming off of an impressive win over Dalton Friday night to improve to 11-0

Mogadore comes in as the number 2 seed with a 10-1 record.

The other side of the bracket has 4th seeded Trimble going up against top seeded New Middletown Springfield.

In the Division VII Region 27 playoffs, the 4th seeded Waterford Wildcats will take on top seeded Harvest Prep. The game will be played Saturday at 7:00 at Sheridan High School in Thornville.

The Wildcats are 9-2 after handling Shenandoah on Saturday, While Harvest Prep is 10-1.

The other half of the bracket has Shadyside taking on Newark Catholic at Meadowbrook high school on Saturday night.
