Local runners set for WV Cross Country Championship

ONA, W.VA. (WTAP)- The West Virginia Cross Country championship meet is set for Saturday at Cable Midland High School.

The action gets underway at 10:00 am with the girls Class AAA starting their 5K trek through the Cabell County countryside.

The Parkersburg High is one of the 12 schools in the running for a team championship in the big school division. They're lead by Big Red senior Madison Trippett, who is the defending state individual champion.

The Class AAA boys championship is set for 10:45 am. The Parkersburg South Patriot boys qualified their entire team for the competition.

While Keegan Barnette and Franklin Angelos qualified individually for Parkersburg High.

The Class AA/A girls race starts at 1:00 pm. The Williamstown Yellowjackets are the 2 time defending champion in Class A. The Yellowjackets are coming off of a Regional championship a week ago led by Ella Hesson, who was the top finisher at the Regional meet

The Class AA/A boys championship will follow at 1:45pm. Both Ravenswood and Williamstown have their entire teams going for individual and team glory in that meet.
