PARKERSBURG, W.VA. (WTAP)-Two new champions have been crowned at the Parkersburg News & Sentinel Half Marathon.
Raymond Magut is the men's champion.
The Kenyan pulled away over the last 2 miles to win the championship in his first ever appearance at the half marathon. His winning time came to 1:04.07.
Edwin Kibichiy finished in second, 8 seconds behind the winner. And Cleophas Ngetich was third.
Joshua Sanchez of Bradenton Florida was the top American finisher.
Vicoty Chepngeno dominated the News & Sentinel women's half marathon. A runner up in the race a year ago, the Kenyan pulled away from the rest of the field by the 3 mile mark and never looked back. Her winning time came to 1:10.18, a record time for the women’s race.
Martha Akeno finished a distant second, over 4 minutes behind the winner. Areba Damaris came in third.
Eli Fullerton was the winner of the 2 mile fun run with Franklin Angelos coming in second and Keegan Barnette coming in third.
On the female side, Williamstown dominated with Ella Hesson coming in first, Alyssa Sauro in second, Natalie Sawin in third and Chloe Lightfritz in fourth.
