Ohio Bobcats prepare for game 1 against Howard

ATHENS, Ohio (WTAP) - The Ohio Bobcats open their season Saturday against Howard. Head Coach Frank Solich held his first game week press conference Monday where he said the team evaluations are over and they've been preparing for the Bison's unique offense.

The Bobcats are picked to win the Mid-American Conference in preseason polls, and Solich says the team is focusing on turnovers to get there. He also says they're working on an offense that can do it all. He wants a strong run game against defenses that struggle against the run; while also being able to rely on a pass game when necessary too.

"Defensively they are a three-four kind of unit, they will blitz, they will move their people an awful lot. They have about half their defense coming back. in terms of starters they will be a fairly experienced defensive football team. They run well, they are aggressive so it could be a game we are in for a very tough battle and I believe that will be the case and we will see how it all plays out."

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. We will have those highlights Saturday on WTAP.
