Rincon leaves Ohio Valley Soccer

VIENNA, W.Va.- Ohio Valley University Athletic Director Chad Porter announced Tuesday that Director of Soccer Luis Rincon has accepted a position at Francis Marion University to become the next head coach for the Patriots men's soccer program.

"On behalf of Ohio Valley University and the athletic department, I want to thank Coach Rincon for everything he has done for this university and the soccer programs," said Porter, "We are proud of what Coach Rincon, his staff and the players have accomplished in such a short time," he continued. "Luis has made an incredible impact on both our soccer programs and athletic department that will allow us to continue the success in men's and women's soccer for years to come. We wish him nothing but the best, and would like to congratulate him on his new position at Francis Marion University," Porter finished.

Coach Rincon took over the men's soccer program at Ohio Valley in the spring of 2014 and assumed the role of Director of Soccer during the summer of 2017. Rincon accumulated an outstanding 88 victories throughout his four years at Ohio Valley. He posted a record of 55-23-7 throughout four seasons with the men's program and a 33-4-6 mark in two seasons with the women's program. He leaves OVU with a combined record of 88-27-13.

OVU experienced great success under Coach Rincon with the men's program winning the 2018 NCAA Midwest Region and advancing to the Elite 8 round of the NCAA National Tournament. The men's program was also ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation in the national rankings, as well as crowned the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Champions during his tenure.

The women's program saw two appearances in the NCAA National Tournament during his time at the helm, including their first program victory in NCAA play in 2018. The women's program under Coach Rincon won back-to-back Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships in 2017 and 2018.

Under his guidance, OVU was awarded thirty-one All-Regional selections, thirty-seven All-G-MAC Team selections, two G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year awards, two G-MAC Defensive Player of the Year awards, and the Men's and Women's Soccer Coach of the Year in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in 2017.

"I want to thank Chad Porter and Jeff Dimick for the opportunity to coach here. It was a great experience working at Ohio Valley University," said Rincon. "I also want to thank all the faculty, staff and coaches at the university, it was a pleasure to work with you and learn from everyone," he continued, "It was a great experience being a Fighting Scot. I want to thank my players that trusted in me to come to OVU to take the programs and make them national powerhouses. I will always appreciate my time here and will never forget my four years at Ohio Valley University," he finished.
