PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP)- It was a historic weekend for the Parkersburg South crew team.
The Patriots accepted two bids to compete in the Head of Charles Regatta on the campus of Harvard University.
This race is the world's largest regatta as crews from many countries are represented. It is the first time any crew from West Virginia took part in the event.
In the women's varsity four, coxswain Britney Vrolyk, stroke Jasmine Morris, third seat Lindsay Smith, second seat Faith Bush and bow Brianna Linger finished in 59th out of 87 with a time of 22:24 in the 5K race.
In the men's varsity double, stroke Zack Goddard and David Chapman ended the weekend 30th out of 36 with a final time of 21:23.
There were 820 different clubs, 2,256 entries and 10,252 athletes competing.
