The Shield 18U impresses at Beast of East Tournament

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP)- It was a good weekend for The Shield 18 and under baseball team.

The team played its way into the Beast of the East championship playoff on Sunday, going 5-1 over the tournament to get to that point.

The Shield racked up a tournament high 59 runs in six games to earn a spot in the playoff.

The team fell to the Dayton Classics 3-1 in the semi-final, but The Shield finished third out of 35 teams.

The squad ended the weekend with a .395 batting average and 2.30 ERA.

Above all else, several of these athletes that may know from around the Mid-Ohio Valley will continue their baseball careers on the collegiate level.
