WV high school football ratings- Nov. 5
The second to the last high school football ratings are out in West Virginia high school football and several teams in our area are well positioned for playoff run.
In Class AAA, the Parkersburg South Patriots just dropped back 1 position following their first loss of the season on Friday at Wheeling Park.
The Patriots are now ranked 4th in the big school division with an 8-1 record. As it stands, a 4th place rating would be good enough for home field advantage in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs..
The Parkersburg High Big Reds are ranked 11th this week following their loss to Huntington on Friday.
The Big Reds are 5-4 and are guaranteed a slot in the playoffs. Next up for both teams is their season ending Crosstown Showdown with the Patriots hosting the Big Reds Friday night at 7.
In Class A, the Doddridge County Bulldogs move up to the top spot at 9-0. The Bulldogs are the only undefeated team remaining in the small school division. They're coming off of a 20-7 victory in Williamstown last week and finish up the season on the road at Tygarts Valley.
Their neighbor to the West, Ritchie County, is ranked second. The Rebels are 8-1 and close out the season on the road at Calhoun.
The Williamstown Yellowjackets slip back to 5th place. That's a drop of 2 notches following the loss to Doddridge. The Jackets finish up the regular season at 8-2 and will host at least 1 game in the playoffs.
The St. Marys Blue Devils are tied for 6th place with Tolsia. The Blue Devils are 7-2 and close out their regular season at home against Tyler, which is ranked 17th.
Parkersburg Catholic is ranked 18th after closing out the season at 6-4 with a win last Thursday The Crusaders need a little help to make the playoff field.
The top 16 teams in each class make the playoffs. The final ratings and playoff pairings will be announced on Sunday
