WV high school swimming championships set to begin

PARKERSBURG, W.VA. (WTAP)-- The West Virginia High School state championship swim meet begins a 2 day run at the West Virginia University natatorium in Morgantown.

Swimmers from across the Mountain State will be competing for both team and individual glory.

Parkersburg High School is the defending Class AAA girls champion, and is poised to defend the crown. The Big Reds are coming of a championship in the Regional meet 2 weeks ago.

The Parkersburg boys have finished runner-up the last 2 years in a row, and are looking to take it to the championship level.

PHS swimmer David Snider is the defending champion in the 100 backstroke and the 100 butterfly.

The Parkersburg South Patriots are also sending a strong contingent to state. Coach Steve Lutz has relay and individual champions coming off strong performances their last time out.
