WVU rifle team claims ninth straight GARC title

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. (WTAP)- The WVU rifle team claimed the Great America Rifle Conference championship for the ninth straight season.

The team shot 2366 air rifle. It was their 13th conference title overall. This was the final competition before the NCAA championship in two weeks.

Morgan Phillips posted the top overall score, while Olympic gold medalist Ginny Thrasher finished with a 595 out of a possible 600 on 60 shots to claim back to back air rile titles.

The Mountaineers turn their attention to the NCAAs where they will go for their sixth straight national title.
