Media Control Operator - Full-time 32hr/wk


The starting schedule for this position is Thursday through Saturday 3:30pm to 2:30am and would be eventually eligible for promotions to different shifts.

This position would consist of monitoring our six television channels, making adjustments to the automation transmission lists, quality control of incoming shows and commercials as well as monitoring legal requirements such as transmitter output power and tower lights through remote interface.

WTAP does a few on-location productions as well such as an annual telethon and some football games in the fall. This person in this position may be asked to help out with those events.


  • Monitoring our six television stations
  • Running commercial breaks on LIVE events such as the TODAY Show and sporting events
  • Updating and maintaining automation system's transmission lists
  • Quality Control of incoming commercials and shows
  • Monitoring and forwarding Emergency Alert messages
  • Making sure snow does not cover satellite antennas


A high school diploma, G.E.D. or higher is required for this position as well as a solid understanding and previous usage of Windows PCs cut/paste shortcuts, knowledge of audio/visual technical aspects is a real plus as well.

Applicants must be able to work and remain calm under extreme pressure as things don’t always go as planned.
