Washington County reached a high level of COVID transmission on Saturday, August 21st, activating the CDC recommendation that all people, including vaccinated individuals, wear a mask indoors. However, Dr. Micheal Brockett, Health Commissioner of the Marietta, Belpre Health Department, stresses that this is a recommendation and not a mandate from the CDC.
On Saturday, August 20th, all the major TV networks are hosting Stand Up to Cancer- a charitable program that aims to raise money for cancer research. Cancer affects so many people, including people here in the MOV. One of them is Rohn County resident Sarah Scott. She’ also Mrs. Bridge Day 2021. She was diagnosed with cancer this February. But she didn’t let that get in the way of living her best life.
Marty Seufer is known to most as a Wood County Administrator. But he’s also a big family man, baseball lover, and a Cancer survivor. 6 years ago he was diagnosed with colon cancer. But, Seufer says his battle isn’t over. It’s now back in his liver.
As of Thursday, there have been 3,001 deaths related to COVID-19 in West Virginia, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR). Of those deaths, 99.993% of the victims were not fully vaccinated.
