A new life. A new start.
Supporters speak about a home for unmarried mothers-to-be.
North Place Maternity House has been in operation since last November.
Its backers told the Wood County Commission Monday it provides services for unwed mothers during their pregnancies.
It also promotes alternatives to abortion.
"Not only can they keep their baby with them, but we also offer an adoption program," says Coordinator Susie Meredith. "So if they'll stay with us and have their babies, then if they choose not to keep their babies, then we can do an adoption program."
Residents are encouraged to further their education and join the workforce.
North Place is sponsored by the North Parkersburg Baptist Church.
