As many as 3,500 people will be off and running Thursday morning at Parkersburg City Park.

Registration for the annual Turkey Trot race was under way Wednesday at the On The Run store on Emerson Evenue.

That registration will continue at the park Thanksgiving mornin in the two hours before the 9AM race.

The Turkey Trot attracts runners not only from the local area, but from all over the country.

"We have Alaska, we have California, we have Montanna, we have them from, what looked like almost all the states," says committee member Sharon Marks. "It was pretty cool. They'll bring family members, small children, older people, dogs, cats, who knows."

The top male and female finishers win a fresh turkey.

Frozen turkeys will be given as prizes for 50 runners who enter a drawing held before the race.
