Police are calling it an alleged burglary gone bad. Officials say it happened just before 11 Monday night at a home on 11th Avenue on the south side of Parkersburg.

Officials say William and Celeena Dawson were just getting home when they say there were three individuals in their home and one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot William in his leg and took off.

Police say the alleged suspects got away with a TV and some cash.

Officials believe this is drug related and they do believe the suspects and the victims know each other.

No arrests have been made, but they do expect to make an arrest sometime soon.

"This was not a random act of violence at all. No way should the public be worried that a band of thugs out here that are creating havoc - that's not the case at all with this investigation. The parties involved are known to one another and we'll be able to put the pieces to this together fairly soon," says Chief Joe Martin, Parkersburg PD.

It's unknown what the motive is and it's still unclear as to what exactly went on inside the home.

Officials say a small child was present during the shooting.

The victim who was shot is recovering and has non-life threatening injuries.
