BELPRE, Ohio (WTAP) - The Belpre Public Library celebrated Dr. Seuss turning 120 by holding a Seus-A-Palooza.

All ages were welcome to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ 120th birthday with snacks, movies, crafts, and stories!

Kids had the opportunity to paint and create Truffula trees, play in oobleck from the wacky weather storm, and engage in story time to learn more about Dr. Seuss and enhance reading skills.

The youth programmer expressed how holding events like these build and strengthen the community.

“I think it builds community and anything that we can do to build community is something I want to participate in. We have had an amazing turn out and all the kids in there are super happy and excited and having fun and really that is all I want. The reason that Dr. Seuss still holds up today is that his work is for early childhood really provides an opportunity for families to bond with each other essentially. Reading with your kid is really a valuable experience.” said Charlie McClung, youth programmer for Belpre Library.
