Local Girl Scout troops receive yearly cookie orders
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - It’s that time of year again. Local Girl Scout troops are doing their yearly cookie sales here in the MOV.
Troop Leader Valerie Richards says in Wood county alone, more than 6,000 boxes of cookies were delivered to 14 troops. Four of the troops got their cookies at the South Parkersburg United Methodist Church.
Richards says the cookies were being separated between each scout, and delivery would happen over the next few days. Anyone who had pre-ordered cookies would be receiving them soon.
She adds that they will also be doing booth sales outside of businesses over the next couple weeks.
Aurora Kibble with troop 35267 has been with the Black Diamond Girl Scouts for about three years. She said this year she sold 215 boxes of cookies.
Niya DeBore from troop 35973 has been with the Girl Scouts for around nine years. She said she sold 156 boxes.
Richards says the order process can be complicated, but the girls handle it “like a pro”. She says they learn business skills like goal setting, money and time management, and how to talk to customers.
The Black Diamond Girls scouts Council works with more than 4,000 girls across 61 counties in West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio and Maryland. To find more information on everything the Black Diamond Girl Scouts are doing, you can go to their website here: Girl Scouts of Black Diamond
