Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting

Deputies and detectives were on the scene of a search warrant when a struggle ensued with a suspect.

MEIGS CO., Ohio (WTAP) - The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting in Scipio Township that occurred on Tuesday.

Deputies and detectives were on the scene of a search warrant when a struggle ensued with a suspect, according to a news release on Facebook from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect has been pronounced dead after a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Facebook post.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification has been asked to come to the scene to conduct an independent investigation into the shooting.
