18-year-old dies from shooting injuries, charges upgraded

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - One of the victims from a shooting in Parkersburg on Monday has died.

According to a news release from Parkersburg Police Chief Matt Board, 18-year-old Bradi Florance died of his injuries.

18-year-old Butch Wayne Knight is now charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder. He was originally charged with three counts of attempted murder.

The shooting happened Monday on Belmont Road in Parkersburg.

Devon Forshey was also injured in the shooting, while Jairan Gandee was uninjured. Both are 18.

According to the police department, the investigation showed that Knight went up to the vehicle parked in the basketball courts parking lot and allegedly fired a gun after a brief verbal exchange with the victims inside the car.

The victims then drove away in their vehicle and reached a safe location nearly one block away on Pennsylvania Avenue, the release said.

According to the release, officers found Knight within six minutes of the initial 911 call. He was seen driving a vehicle near the 800 block of Neal Street.

A traffic stop was conducted, and Knight was taken into custody and taken to the Parkersburg Police Department.

Knight is awaiting video arraignment through Wood County Magistrate Court. Because he is facing a capital offense, bond will have to be set by a circuit court judge at a later time,

Forshey has been released from the hospital after treatment for his injuries.
