Man accused of shooting father in face with crossbow now in custody
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A man accused of shooting his father in the face with a crossbow is now in custody following what authorities described as a lengthy foot pursuit and tracking operation through snow-covered terrain in Jackson and Roane counties.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said Chase Fleming was taken into custody after an “exhausting search” that drew assistance from multiple agencies, including deputies in Roane and Kanawha counties and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.

Investigators said Fleming’s father, the victim in the case, is still alive and in stable condition at CAMC General Hospital.
Authorities said Fleming was admitted for observation as deputies attempted to have him medically cleared for incarceration.
Fleming has been charged with one count of malicious assault. Additional charges are possible, authorities said, at the time the case is presented to a grand jury. Bond had not been set as of Wednesday morning.
